Abstract: Based on the input-output table data of the Asian Development Bank from 2007 to 2021, this article constructs a three-dimensional panel data of country-industry-year, and empirically tests the impact of digital investment on the division status of global value chain. Research has found that the digital investment enhances the division status of global value chain through three channels, which are expanding the scope of production factors, improving innovation output levels, and promoting trade liberalization. This impact exhibits multidimensional heterogeneity at the national, industrial, and sector levels. Only digital investment originating from the country can significantly enhance its division status of global value chain. This conclusion helps clarify the process of China's division status in the global value chain under the digital background, and provides policy insights for China to improve its division status in the global value chain.
