At the end of 2023, the Central Economic Work Conference officially proposed to build the low-altitude economy as an important strategic emerging industry. The 2024 government work report also regards this industry as a new growth engine, thus putting China's low-altitude economy on a rapid development track. However, due to the complex characteristics of the development of low-altitude economy, such as strong cutting-edge, systematic, integrated, technological, and normative aspects, the current understanding on this industry among various sectors of society is inconsistent and not entirely comprehensive. To this end, the research team from the IDEI of Nanjing University attempts to clarify the basic concept, main direction, and key issues of low-altitude economy in the form of a series of articles based on field research and textual research, and points out six core tasks that need to be systematically promoted. Combining with the current development reality in China, we conduct in-depth discussions one by one, hoping to provide a comprehensive understanding framework for various organizations such as governments at all levels, enterprises, and research institutes. We also attempt to propose relevant policy recommendations to promote the high-quality development of low-altitude economy in China.
