As one of the cities in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta, Yancheng has faced the opportunities of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, the China-South Korea Industrial Park and other national strategies in recent years. However, compared with advanced regions, Yancheng also faces challenges such as the weakening of the competitiveness of pillar industries, the relative lag of the transportation system, and the increasing pressure on ecological protection. Standing at a new historical starting point, Yancheng's development should give full play to its own characteristics and advantages, more actively integrate into the new development pattern, and bravely take the lead in the high-quality development of coastal areas.
Based on Yancheng's own development status and the characteristics of surrounding cities, this paper puts forward the following five suggestions for the development of Yancheng:
1. Build the Yancheng-Lianyungang modern industrial belt
2. Connect to the core area of the Yangtze River Delta
3. To be the bridgehead of Huaihe Economic Zone
4. Strengthen ties with South Korea and Japan, and build an economic zone around the Yellow Sea
5. Give full play to local advantages and build coastal wetland national parks
