Lu Jian: Medium-Speed Public Rail Transit Should Be the Direction of Metropolitan Area Construction

Release time:2022-09-20Author: Lu Jian

This paper first points out the current shortcomings of China's rail transit construction and the direction for future improvement, and believes that residents spend a lot of time to get to the high-speed railway station through urban transportation and passengers spend a lot of time waiting in the high-speed rail station. Therefore, it is necessary to develop medium speed rail transit with a speed of 100-120 kilometers per hour, and form a rail transit network that rapidly radiates from central cities to surrounding cities.

Then, the article analyzes the economic significance of developing medium-speed public rail transit: 1. It can help the central city to drive the development of surrounding cities as a whole. 2. Reduce the traffic burden and other economic burdens of office workers, and improve the utilization rate of transportation resources. 3. Make full use of the resource advantages of small and medium-sized cities in terms of educational resources, living costs and so on.

Finally, the countermeasures and suggestions for the development of medium-speed public rail transit are put forward from four aspects, including the use of micro big data to simulate time use, station site selection, mobilizing the enthusiasm of construction subjects, and avoiding excessive investment.
