The report of the 20th National Congress of CPC systematically discussed the five characteristics of Chinese path to modernization. President Xi said Chinese modernization is characterized by five features that are unique to the Chinese context. It is the modernization of a huge population, of common prosperity for all, of material and cultural-ethical advancement, of harmony between humanity and nature, and of peaceful development.
This paper believes that, from the perspective of economics, the five characteristics of Chinese modernization reflect the economic development concept of the Communist Party of China and constitute the value inherent and development path of China's economic modernization. Then, the five characteristics are interpreted from the perspective of economics: the first characteristic of a huge population size indicates that high-quality development is the first priority of economic modernization; the second characteristic of common prosperity indicates that economic modernization must correctly handle efficiency and fairness relationship; the third, fourth, and fifth characteristics of coordination with spiritual civilization, harmonious coexistence with nature, and peaceful development and win-win results correspond to healthy, green, and peaceful economic modernization development models.
Then, it interprets the five characteristics from the economics perspective: the first characteristic of huge population indicates that high-quality development is the priority of economic modernization; The second characteristic of common prosperity indicates that economic modernization should correctly handle the relationship between efficiency and fairness; The third, fourth and fifth characteristics of material and cultural-ethical advancement, harmony between humanity and nature, and peaceful development correspond to the healthy, green and peaceful economic modernization.
