According to survey data, tourism is the top priority for 91.24% of respondents when it comes to consumption. Meanwhile, savings deposits increased by 17.84 trillion yuan in 2022, indicating the availability of tourism consumption funds. This article argues that tourism is a key driver of mass consumption and proposes strategies for promoting its development to unlock its full potential. The author identifies major issues affecting tourism and presents countermeasures and suggestions to address them:


1. Extend long holidays to increase the size of the 1.4 billion-person tourism market.

2. Encourage annual vacation time for workers in public and private sectors to promote tourism consumption.

3. Allow and promote standardized collective tourism for public-funded education.

4. Discourage the construction of ancient cities and focus on developing realistic tourism resources.

5. Enhance tourism quality to improve the overall experience. 

By adopting these strategies, China can promote tourism consumption and unlock its full potential to drive economic growth.
