Jiang Jing: Make Carbon Reduction Traceable (New Knowledge): Continuously Promote Innovation at a New Starting Point⑥

Release time:2024-11-13Author: Jiang Jing

Carbon footprint is an effective tool for quantifying the carbon emissions of products, individuals, households, institutions, and enterprises. Taking the carbon footprint of products as an example, the carbon emissions throughout the entire lifecycle, including production, transportation, distribution, use, and disposal, can be scientifically calculated as an important indicator for measuring the green and low-carbon level of products and implementing carbon emission quota management.

Establishing the carbon footprint management system is an inevitable requirement for achieving refined governance in emission reduction. Currently, the construction of China's carbon footprint management system is moving towards a substantive operational stage. Green development is a global trend, and more and more international trade rules include carbon footprint as a necessary assessment indicator. Establishing the carbon footprint management system is a systematic project that involves multiple industries, products, processes, and fields, requiring the broad participation from social entities.

China has embarked on the process of reducing carbon emissions while industrialization and urbanization are still rapidly developing. The task of reducing carbon emissions is unprecedentedly heavy and the time is very tight. We should focus on the overall development, make systematic planning, promote fine governance, strengthen the organic connection between product carbon footprint and policies such as trade, fiscal and financial policies, and enrich the application scenarios of product carbon footprint. We will definitely be able to safely reduce carbon emissions and continuously realize new development in the comprehensive green transformation of the economy and society.
