Abstract: New quality productivity not only represents the intrinsic driving force of economic growth, but also is the key to promoting economic transformation and upgrading. Based on the panel data from 30 Chinese provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities from 2012 to 2022, this study constructs an evaluation index system of regional new quality productivity from three dimensions, which are laborers, labor materials, and labor objects. It then empirically examines the impact of national big data comprehensive pilot zone on regional new quality productivity. The results show that the big data pilot zone can significantly improve the level of regional new quality productivity. From the perspectives of geographical location, industrial structure, technological level, and financial environment in different regions, the improvement effect of big data pilot zone on regional new quality productivity is more obvious in the central and eastern regions, regions with better industrial structure, high-tech regions, and regions with better-developed financial environment. The conclusion can provide empirical evidence for evaluating the implementation effect of the Chinese government's cutting-edge digital infrastructure construction policies, and also point out the direction for improving regional new quality productivity.
