Release time:2024-12-17Author: Kong Lingchi

The effectiveness of market mechanism is closely related to the size and uniformity of the market. The Third Plenum of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC emphasized the need to build a unified national market and improve the basic system of the market economy. Accelerating the construction of a unified national market that is efficient, standardized, fair, and open is an inevitable requirement and important manifestation of a high-level socialist market economy system.

In our country, the barriers between the departments and regions greatly hinder the construction process of a unified national market. The adverse consequences are numerous, such as the difficulty in optimizing resource allocation nationwide, disruption of the fair competition environment, and limitations on achieving economies of scale for enterprises. The key reasons for the problem are the inconsistency of policy objectives among different departments, the prevalence of local protectionism, and the unclear division of responsibilities between the central and local governments.

In view of this, in order to solve this problem and effectively promote the construction of a unified national market, the following points need to be achieved.

1. Vigorously enhance the consistency of macro-policy orientation and regional policies.

2. Local governments should regulate their behavior orientation, focusing on the quality and efficiency of local economic development.

3. Combine the construction of a unified national market with deepening reforms in key areas.

4. Accelerate the establishment of central government-led industrial policies.

5. Local governments should adjust the direction of financial investment according to the actual situation.
