In April 2022, President Xi Jinping proposed that accelerating the construction of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics ultimately boils down to the construction of China's independent knowledge system during his inspection at Renmin University of China. As an important component of China's independent knowledge system, Chinese economics is the Marxist political economics of the 21st century formed through innovation based on China's national conditions and practices of reform and opening-up.
Chinese economics is rooted in the land of China, telling Chinese stories, analyzing Chinese economic laws, and guiding Chinese economic development. Chinese economics takes the Marxist political economics as its guiding ideology and theoretical foundation. It focuses on the analysis of economic laws, and its basic research method is problem-oriented.
According to the mission and task of Chinese economics, the theoretical system of Chinese economics involves five dimensions, which are economic system, economic benefits, economic development, development power, and economic security. Economic operation will inevitably encounter a series of contradictions, such as the contradiction between speed and benefit, the contradiction between safety and risk, and the contradiction between fairness and efficiency. However, regardless of trade-offs, the theoretical goal of economic analysis is to promote the development of productivity and develop the socialism with Chinese characteristics on this basis.
