1. General Overview

According to the chronological order of the Third Plenary Session of the Communist Party of China, in 1978, China's reform began, taking rural areas as the breakthrough point. In 1984, the focus of economic system reform shifted from rural areas to cities. In 1988, the main point was on improvement and rectification. In 1993, the basic framework of socialist market economy was established. In 1998, it was proposed to make every effort to build a new socialist countryside. In 2003, the key point was to improve the socialist market economy system. In 2008, the reform focus was on rural areas. In 2013, comprehensive deepening reform was proposed. In 2018, the focus was on superstructure reform.
