Abstract: The biggest characteristic of the unified national market is unity. A comprehensive and profound understanding of the unified national market requires further focus on the content of unity and the path to achieve this unity. This is also the most important practical and theoretical issue in building a unified national market with high standards. The answer to this question is directly related to the direction of building a unified national market. From a theoretical perspective, unifying the rules of free flow and competition of commodity factor resources is essential to establish a unified national market, and this requires highlighting the importance of the rule of law and regulation. From a practical perspective, there are three main forces that hinder the free flow: geographical nature, local government protection and market segmentation, and enterprise market power monopoly, especially in the platform mode. Overcoming local government protection and market segmentation is the key to constructing a unified large market. To achieve this, we can learn from the practice of high-quality integration, which is a national strategy, in the Yangtze River Delta region. Analyzing their experience in breaking away from the administrative region economy and accelerating market integration development can provide two inspirations. Firstly, the current integration strategy cannot solely focus on achieving homogenization of people's livelihoods between regions with significant development gaps. Secondly, it is essential to gradually narrow the gap in people's livelihood development levels between regions through a long period of productivity gap reduction and distribution adjustment. Historical patience is necessary to achieve this goal.
