Release time:2025-02-11Author: Ren Qunluo

Currently, there is a serious imbalance in the spatial structure of China's population and economic development, which has brought a series of problems. Drawing on the experience of western development in the United States, this article proposes that adjusting the spatial structure imbalance should be included in China's new development pattern. Also, constructing a national economic hub in northwest arid areas such as Xinjiang should be elevated to a major regional development strategy of the country.

This paper proposes the main measures to adjust the spatial structure of China's population and economic development.

1. Construct major water diversion projects to increase water resources in the arid northwest region.

2. Encourage population migration and achieve relative balance in population spatial layout based on matching resources and environment.

3. Develop industrial clusters with comparative advantages.

4. Plan, design, and construct multiple livable large and medium-sized cities, as well as a number of ecological rural small cities, so as to enhance the population attractiveness.

Building Xinjiang into a national economic hub is of great significance, as it will greatly improve the space and efficiency of land use and lay a solid foundation for the long-term stability of the country. As for the suggestions, firstly, we should expand the national development space and promote the coordinated regional development in China. Secondly, we should utilize strong production capacity to increase the national economic growth rate. Thirdly, we should ensure that Xinjiang, together with the whole country, achieves modernization and maintains long-term peace and stability. Fourthly, we should improve the ecological environment and build a beautiful China. Fifthly, we should expand our country's strategic hinterland.
