This article is a speech by researcher He Jun at the Bimonthly Forum of the Yangtze IDEI in April 2023. He first explored what constitutes a strong manufacturer, and then analyzed the Chinese style innovation system. The difference between innovation in the United States and innovation in China highlights the issue of lagging intellectual property protection in China. He believes that China's future enterprises that use special and sophisticated technologies will be different from the model of Germany and Japan, but rather a specialized enterprise under the American model and integrated large enterprises. Finally, the issue of the national system in making China a strong manufacturer was discussed, and a large number of cases were analyzed to determine which industries are suitable for the national system and which are not. After the speech, in the questioning section, Researcher He Jun further explained the asymmetric strategy he mentioned in response to the questions.
