This article first reviews the prosperous commercial scene of Wuxi since ancient times, as well as the rise of modern Wuxi's industry and commerce driven by Shanghai. Next, the article summarizes the spirit of modern Wuxi's merchants into six aspects: 1. the historical responsibility of serving the country through industry; 2. the innovative spirit of pioneering; 3. the value concept of pragmatism and emphasis on industry; 4. the corporate culture of upholding morality and integrity; 5. the open ideological realm; 6. shrewd and flexible business strategies. Finally, the author summarized the spirit of Wuxi's merchants in the new era since the reform and opening up as the innovative spirit of daring to take the lead, the enterprising spirit of resilience and perseverance, the humanistic spirit of advocating morality and health, and the patriotic spirit of serving the country through industry, and gave high praise to these spirits.
