Abstract: Urbanization on the new journey towards modernization mainly includes four aspects: Firstly, strengthening the development pole function of cities; Secondly, overcoming problems such as population congestion, traffic congestion, environmental pollution, and high housing prices; Thirdly, strengthening cities as important nodes in the national unified market; Fourthly, promoting urbanization in rural areas. The level of urbanization has a decisive impact on the level of modernization. The first factor is population density. The larger the population, the more competitive the city is,, generating various needs, further developing division of labor, and increasing development opportunities. The majority of the middle-income population in economically developed cities can lead modern lifestyles and promote consumption upgrading.
