Centering on the country's industrial transformation and upgrading, the book thoroughly analyzes the theoretical connotation of the “second wave of economic globalization” and the rare opportunities it brings to China’s industrial upgrading. It also offers systematic suggestions on how China should achieve industrial upgrading in a globalization context. More specifically, it is recommended that China grab the globalization opportunity to build its next round in the globalization strategy, and strive for the goal of moving Chinese industries to the high end of the global value chain, sharing the dividends of the second wave of economic globalization through upgrading and expanding the opening up, structural adjustment and institutional reform, as well as promoting innovation-driven industrial transformation and upgrading. On the foundation of the global value chain theory, the author suggests that China focus on outsourcing productive services and regional economic integration, and reconstruct the domestic value chain in the new round of economic globalization to continually enhance the international competitiveness of industries and economy in China.
