After taking the lead in fulfilling the goal of constructing a comprehensive moderately prosperous society early in Jiangsu Province in 2005, Kunshan was the first in the province to embark on the journey of fundamental realization of modernization. The Path of Kunshan Taking the Lead in Modernization, by combining theory and practice, provides answers to a series of critical theoretical and practical questions such as the definition of basic modernization, Chinese characteristics and regional characteristics of modernization and the foundation for one particular region of a country to take the lead in the basic realization of modernization. It systematically summarizes the path and experience of Kunshan’s basic modernization, and proposes the establishment of an index system for basic modernization with Chinese characteristics that is generally recognized by people at home and abroad.
