As a potential economic region in China that plays a part in contemporary international economic competition, the Yangtze River Delta is currently facing severe constraints in terms of population, resources, environment, infrastructure and other areas, among which the restrictions of land resources and environmental capacity are the most severe. The early advent of this historic situation has posed fresh challenges to the evolution of the traditional development mode in the region, but is also a historic test before new opportunities arise. Under the guidance of the scientific viewpoint on development, the book studies the approaches involved in seeking new driving forces of economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta, and conducts serious and careful scientific analysis on a variety of critical and complex issues in the economic development in this region, such as enhancing the level of export-oriented economy, accelerating the upgrading of production factors, altering the investment mode, independent innovation, transformation, regional economic integration, property right reform and adjustment of implementation form of the ownership. Aside from this, corresponding policy suggestions and development views are also proposed.
