Release time:2023-08-30Author: Wang Huimin

From 2018 to 2021, the scale of China's patent-intensive industries has been expanding year by year, and the contribution of patent-intensive industries to GDP has been continuously increasing, enhancing the support for economic growth. With the gradual transformation of China's economic development mode, the industrial structure is optimizing and upgrading. The development of digital and green transformation is continuously improving.

However, from an international perspective, there is still a significant gap in the contribution of China's patent-intensive industries to GDP compared to Europe and America, mainly due to the following reasons.

1. Some key technologies in patent-intensive industries face limitations, resulting in the low market share of high-end products and poor industrial economic benefits.

2. Intellectual property has a high degree of external dependence, and there is a long-term deficit in productive trade and technology service trade, resulting in limited contribution of patent-intensive service industries to economic growth.

3. The conversion rate of technological achievements and the industrialization rate of patents are both low.

We can learn from the practices of developed countries in the following points.

1. Seize the high-end product market, improve the economic benefits of patent-intensive industries, and enhance their contribution to economic growth.

2. Make laws related to technology transfer and accelerate the application of patent achievements.

3. By increasing the openness of patent-intensive service industries and optimizing the trade environment for intellectual property service, the United States has become a global powerhouse of intellectual property trade services.
