Release time:2023-06-30Author: Zong Jiafeng

Abstract: Since Qin and Han dynasties, China's economic center has undergone a process of transformation from the north to the south. Since the Southern Song Dynasty, the south, especially Jiangnan, has always been the economic center of China. Since 1978, the economic center position of the south has been continuously strengthened. There are multiple reasons for this phenomenon, including the historical path dependence, the development of international trade since the Southern Song Dynasty, the advantages of natural environment such as climate and ocean, the changes in economic and geographical conditions, and the situation brought by the open-up. In order to form a more coordinated development situation between the north and the south, it is necessary to further break the shackles, and promote higher-quality development of China's economy with a spirit of openness.
