Since 2018, the trend of the China-US trade relation has become one of the most concerned issues in the world. On May 18, 2018 (US time), China and the US issued a joint statement on bilateral economic and trade cooperation. China agrees to substantially increase its purchase of goods and services from the US, and both sides agrees to maintain high-level contacts, take effective measures to significantly reduce the US trade deficit with China, and actively seek solutions to the economic and trade issues of their concerns. In a such context, Professor Liu Zhibiao, Dean of Yangtze IDEI, held discussions with relevant experts and scholars on the topic “Impact of the Sino-US Joint Statement on China’s Economy and Our Response”. They analyzed the impact of the Sino-US joint statement on bilateral economic and trade relations issued on May 19, and proposed constructive policy suggestions based on their analysis.
