On January 22, 2019, the opening ceremony of the Seminar on Sticking to Bottom Line Thinking, Forestalling and Defusing Major Risks for Key Provincial and Ministerial Leaders and Cadres was held at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee. General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the ceremony. He pointed out that there are varying factors and crises in China’s stable economic operation when China is faced with profoundly complicated international environment and domestic conditions. In the future, we should strengthen our awareness of potential dangers, take precautions, conduct accurate research and judgment, properly respond to potential major risks that may arise in the economic field, improve our prevention and control capacities, focus on preventing and eliminating the major risks in “politics, ideology, economy, science and technology, society, external environment, and the Party building”, maintain sustained and healthy economic development and overall social stability, and promote economic development in the right direction. Professor Liu Zhibiao, Dean of Yangtze IDEI, held in-depth discussions with relevant experts and scholars to talk about potential risks that China might encounter in the future and relevant countermeasures from their familiar perspectives.
