At the 2019 Central Economic Work Conference, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out China still remains and will be in an important period of strategic opportunities for its development for a long time. In the future, while fully affirming our achievements, we should also be aware that there are changes in what was a generally stable economic performance, some of which have caused concern. Besides, China is faced with complicated and rigorous international situations and the economic downturn. In such context, we should strengthen our awareness of the potential dangers, grasp the major conflicts and address them in a targeted manner. Recently, Professor Liu Zhibiao, Dean of Yangtze IDEI, held discussions with relevant experts and scholars to provide an insight into the connotations of “stable economic performance”, “changes” and “concerns” put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping.
