This paper empirically analyzes the impact of domestic patent protection strength on the import of high-tech products with bilateral large sample data from 106 countries in the world including China, based on the perspective of 9 kinds of high-tech products import. The results are as follows. Generally, increasing the degree of domestic patent protection will increase import of high-tech products, but this effect is more obvious on developing countries and the lower patent protection countries. The promotion effect of patent protection in China is higher than the world average. The promotion of China’s domestic property rights protection has a significant positive effect on China’s imports from developed countries, such as aviation equipment, electronic communications equipment, pharmaceutical products, scientific equipment, power machinery, chemical material, weapons and military equipment. In this paper, we use instrumental variable to deal with the endogenous problems, and the result of robust test also shows that the regression result’s robustness.
