Guangzhou, one of the most important tourism cities in China, has undergone a rapid development over recent years. However, the contribution of sightseeing tourism to the tourism sector is decreasing. Recently, in order to promote urban sightseeing tourism, Guangzhou is committed to providing more high-quality tourism resources. As an early city that started greenway construction in China, the construction of greenway in Guangzhou is relatively perfect. Vigorously developing greenway tourism plays an important role in promoting the development of urban tourism. Tourism destination image plays a significant role in the study of tourists' behaviors and the development of tourism resources. Based on the theory and research methods of tourism destination image, this paper analyzes the characteristics of tourists' landscape image of Guangzhou’s greenway, and then discusses the construction and development status of the greenway in Guangzhou. According to the questionnaire survey on the tourists, this paper classifies the landscape images of greenway tourism into three categories, which are natural environment, infrastructure and cultural elements. The results show the following conclusions. Firstly, tourists generally hold very positive views on greenway tourism, with more positive vocabularies recorded than negative ones. Secondly, the vocabularies of greenway tourism destination image are quite diffused, which have not formed a public image. Thirdly, compared to high-frequency vocabularies, we believe that low-frequency vocabularies give more attention to the details of greenway construction. These targeted and clear-cut image words have more important significance for the construction of tourism destinations.
