This paper uses panel data from 31 provinces and cities in our country from 2003 to 2013 to empirically study the impact of international talent inflows on China's import trade. The empirical results show that the influx of international talents will significantly promote China’s import trade. Moreover, the influx of international talents has a significant impact on the import trade, general trade import, and capital and technology-intensive commodity import trade in the central and western regions. Under the background of implementing the new strategy of actively expanding import trade, the government must attach great importance to the introduction of international talents, actively introduce all kinds of international talents on a large scale, strengthen the construction of international talent network, make full use of the technical resources and trade information brought by the inflow of international talents, promote import trade by introducing international talents, especially the import of high-tech products, and strengthen the ties between China and other countries, especially developed countries, to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of China's industrial structure. The important enlightenment of the research conclusion is that we must actively introduce various types of international talents on a large scale and transform the mode of China's participation in international economic cooperation.
