How Should China Further Integrated into the Global Value Chain in the New Context?

The global value chain specialization is a key approach to China’s opening-up strategy and its further participation in globalization and rapid industrialization. The current China-US trade war and the decoupling strategy of China-U.S. relations in high-tech initiated and imposed by the US will result in decoupling of global value chain to some extent. Rebuilding global value chain is inevitable in the future, when all countries in the world are more dependent on the domestic market to shorten value chains and widely practice vertical specialization across the industry. To meet the requirements of building a high-level open economy, China should try its best to remain within the global value chain and never allow anyone to “kick China out of the global value chain”. We should try to find a way to keep ourselves within global value chain, share interests and risks and avoid the "winner-take-all" phenomenon. Yangtze IDEA held discussions with relevant experts and practitioners on those topics. Their main ideas are summarized as follows.
