Release time:2017-04-20Author: Wang Sitong

At the Fifth Session of the Twelfth National People’s Congress held on March 5, Premier Li Keqiang put forward in the “Government Work Report” that this year’s expected goal is that “Gross domestic product will grow by about 6.5%, and we will strive for better results in actual work.” Is 6.5% high or low? This article puts forward some opinions.First, China’s economic situation did not improve significantly last year. Second, the growth of the secondary industry was obviously weak. Third, the foreign trade situation continued to be sluggish. Fourth, the performance of major economic provinces was not satisfactory. Fifth, the global economic downturn did not improve. The growth target is set at about 6.5% instead of above, indicating that the decision-makers are still unclear about the future situation and hope to leave room for advancement or retreat. Whether the 6.5% bottom line can be held is a test for China’s economy in 2017.
