The strategic opportunities of the Belt and Road Initiative include infrastructure construction opportunities, economic and trade cooperation opportunities, RMB internationalization opportunities, and investment and financing opportunities. Reviewing the status quo of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative: In 2016, Guangdong's total imports and exports to countries along the Belt and Road Initiative reached 1.3 trillion yuan, accounting for 20.7% of the province's imports and exports, with its actual investment in countries along the Belt and Road Initiative exceeding US$4 billion; Hong Kong is an important capital market of the Belt and Road Initiative. In order to play the role of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the Belt and Road Initiative, it is necessary to build a financial center of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, providing financing facilities for the Belt and Road Initiative to promote the internationalization of RMB; build Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area innovation centers to attract global innovation resources, improve innovation capabilities, and enhance China's position in the global value chain; construct a shipping center in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to become a logistics center and trade center of the Belt and Road Initiative; create a high-end industrial center in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, becoming a production and export base for high value-added products; develop border trade and processing to accelerate the industrial transfer of the Pearl River Delta and optimize its industrial structure; give full play to capital and technological advantages to support powerful enterprises to invest overseas and participate in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
