Release time:2018-08-24Author: Wei Hao

China is the world's largest soybean importer, and China's soybean imports account for more than 60% of the world's total soybean imports. At present, China's imports of soybeans from the United States account for about 35% of China's total soybean imports and about 60% of U.S. soybean exports. China's response strategy against U.S. soybean imports will change the pattern of global soybean trade and enhance South America's soybean position in the international market as well as China's market. The Chinese government should accelerate the supply-side structural reform of China's agricultural, encourage domestic farmers to increase soybean planting, increase domestic soybean supply, improve the stability of soybean import sources other than the United States, strategically cultivate new source countries of soybean import, and start to do a good job in the long-term supply of soybean substitutes as soon as possible, so as to prevent the overall rise of domestic food prices and inflation risk caused by the overall rise of soybean import price. The important enlightenment of the soybean incident is that while making full use of international resources to meet domestic consumption demand and serve economic development, we must attach great importance to the diversification strategy of the import market, such as in the field of agricultural products, resources and energy products, and technology products.
