Urban agglomeration is the main form of China's promotion of new urbanization, and it is also the basic unit of China's participation in global governance. Therefore, the study of its scope has always been an important issue of geography. In order to highlight the advantages of research on the integration of natural and human elements of geography, basing the improvement of the traditional gravitation model, transportation accessibility, financial connection network and other quantitative analysis methods, combined with the main function area, language-cultural geography and national strategy and other qualitative methods, the comprehensive method of defining the spatial scope of urban agglomeration is integrated. And based on this, 26 cities were selected from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui as the composition scope of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. This paper attempts to provide a new idea for the study of the method of urban agglomeration scope definition, and also hopes to provide the basis and reference for the relevant urban agglomeration planning.
