In order to comprehensively reflect the construction of modern industrial system in Nanjing, this project will select representative indicators from four aspects of real economy, technological innovation, modern finance and a talent pool, and then compare them with benchmarking cities. The benchmarking cities we selected are cities with the most powerful economic strength, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Besides, Hangzhou, Wuhan and other provincial capitals whose development status are close to Nanjing, as well as Suzhou and other developed cities in southern Jiangsu are also chosen. Through the method of benchmarking, we can find out the advantages and shortcomings in the construction of modern industrial system of Nanjing.The research shows that in the process of the construction of modern industrial system, Nanjing should pay more attention to the establishment of modern financial system, and promote the development of real economy and technological innovation system by taking advantage of science and education resources. There are some specific suggestions.The first is to establish venture capital fund, so as to promote the localization of research achievements from the scientific research institutes. The second is to use innovation incubators to cultivate innovative enterprises and encourage high-level talents to start businesses locally. The third is to support the development of small and medium-sized technology-based enterprises, so as to provide more employments for high-skill talents.
