Release time:2019-06-04Author: Liu Zhibiao and Chen Liu

Under the background of escalating China-US economic and trade frictions, how are Chinese enterprises affected? Can they handle it calmly? What kind of policy support is needed? Since the joint launch of the "Survey on High-quality Economic Development in the Eastern Region" in May 2018, the Yangtze River Industrial Economic Research Institute of Nanjing University along with the Guangming Daily Think Tank Research and Release Center has been paying attention to this topic. Recently, with the assistance of relevant departments, the research team conducted surveys on more than 40 companies in various cities and counties in Jiangsu that have been affected by China-US economic and trade frictions to varying degrees. The survey objects include both large and medium-sized listed companies and small and medium-sized enterprises; both companies engaged in strategic emerging industries and companies engaged in traditional industries. The survey shows that China-US economic and trade frictions have different degrees of impact on Chinese enterprises, especially manufacturing enterprises, and the impacts depend on multiple factors. However, all kinds of enterprises are actively responding to and resolving the crisis, and have achieved certain results. Facing the current changes in the external economic environment, it is necessary to further improve the business environment and strive to reduce the burden and cost of enterprises.
