The essence of regional competition is the competition of talents. The pattern of regional competition in China has undergone a transformation from point to surface, from the "city-building movement" to the development of urban clusters. The competition between regions in the future is not only the competition of capital, technology, investment environment or labor costs, but also the competition of talents in the final analysis. To some extent, the agglomeration of human capital will reshape the spatial pattern of future economic development.The significance of the competition of talents can be understood from two aspects: on the one hand, the age structure of the population affects the vitality of the economy. On the other hand, the knowledge structure of the population determines innovation ability and economic competitiveness.At present, the development of talents in Jiangsu is facing both opportunities and challenges, which are embodied in the following four aspects: First, Jiangsu has high-level science and education, and a good talent ecosystem has basically been formed. Second, the phenomenon of the aging of the population in Jiangsu is serious. Third, there is room for improvement in optimizing the population structure and accelerating the introduction of talents. Fourth, other provinces frequently put forward policies to gather talents.Careers thrive on talents, and talents gather because of careers. We will improve relevant policies to attract, motivate and retain talents, and build a world-class platform for talent collection.
