Liu Zhibiao, Professor of the school of economics of Nanjing University and President of the Yangtze River Industrial Economics Research Institute, said in an interview with the Economic Daily that market integration is the basis and key to the development of high-quality integration in the Yangtze River Delta.There are four main reasons: First, we can gradually aggregate the segmented "administrative region economy" into an open regional economy, and evolve the regional narrow and small-scale market into a regional large-scale market. Second, we can change the development model and mechanism relying on economic globalization. Third, we can siphon the world's advanced innovation elements, develop China's innovation economy, realize the upgrading of the industrial chain to the middle and high-end and achieve high-quality development. Fourth, it can make the Yangtze River Delta break through the traditional model of divided governance and enter a new stage of coordinated governance of economic integration.Professor Liu said that in addition to building, innovating and improving the governance mechanism of competition policy, we can also promote intergovernmental coordination and cooperative governance, especially in the fields of transportation, environmental protection and people's livelihood. This is particularly important to solve the externality of the market and improve market efficiency.
