On August 24th, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized again in his speech at the expert symposium on economic and social fields that we should nurture new growth drivers through sci-tech innovation. During the 14th Five-Year period, China must further improve our independent innovation ability, make original creations in advantageous areas, and strengthen the existing technology innovation. This includes making full use of global sci-tech stock and paying attention to import, digestion, absorption and re-innovation, so as to form the latecomer advantage.As for the independent innovation of core technology, we need to clarify the following points. Firstly, the breakthrough point of implementing innovation-driven strategy is institutional innovation. Secondly, we should strengthen the dominant position of enterprises’ innovation. Thirdly, the essence of innovation-driven development lies in talents. Fourthly, we need to further strengthen the construction of the science platform. Fifthly, it’s necessary to persist in promoting opening-up, cooperation and innovation. Sixthly, we should further push forward the transformation of scientific achievements.The future development depends on scientific and technological innovation, which is an inexhaustible driving force and a strategic support for the improvement of the nation’s comprehensive strength and international competitiveness. Implementing the innovation-driven strategy is a sure path for China to change our economic growth mode, achieve sustainable development and create new development advantages in the future.
