The new type of Chinese think tanks is an important part of the modernization of China's system and capacity for governance. It is also an important support for the Party and government to make decisions in a scientific, democratic and law-based manner. Many changes have taken place in the nature and the form of the research of think tanks in the new era. The new era has also put forward many new requirements for new think tanks，which means that new think tanks should be realistic and practical, forward-looking and predictive.Platform think tank is a new form of organization which changes think tank into a research platform through the institutional design and the use of advanced technology. It integrates the intellectual resources scattered in various regions, sectors and industries into an organic research body, and forms an orderly, high-quality and efficient "research chain" through reasonable division of labor and collaboration, and finally produces high-level research results.Platform think tanks should have the following characteristics: standardization, openness and flexibility. Building a think tank platform should be around the five aspects which are "mission (culture) - resources (basis) - mechanism (system) - intelligence (research) - mode (operation)" to construct the core subject of the thinktank platform and form a "five-in-one" new type of Chinese think tanks.
