In recent years, China's entrepreneurial activities have sprung up, and its innovation ability has gradually improved. Is there any significant difference between entrepreneurial vitality and innovation ability on the efficiency of social resource redistribution? Is there a certain interaction mechanism between entrepreneurial vitality and innovation ability at the level of economic development efficiency?This paper conducts an empirical study based on the data of 283 prefecture-level cities in China from 2004 to 2018, and draws the following conclusions:1. Entrepreneurship vitality and innovation ability have significantly promoted the efficiency of economic development, but the interaction between the two has a certain adverse impact on the efficiency of economic development.2. The entrepreneurial vitality of the eastern and central regions has significantly promoted the efficiency of economic development, while the entrepreneurial vitality of the western region has no significant impact on the efficiency of economic development.3. From the perspective of the heterogeneous combination of entrepreneurial vitality and innovation ability, the combination of high entrepreneurial vitality and high innovation ability can better promote the efficiency of economic development.4. Further threshold regression results show that in the low entrepreneurial activity range, innovation ability significantly inhibits the efficiency of economic development; in the medium entrepreneurial activity range, innovation ability has no significant impact on the efficiency of economic development; in the high entrepreneurial activity range, innovation ability significantly promotes the efficiency of economic development.Finally, based on theoretical analysis and empirical results, this article puts forward corresponding policy recommendations.
