Recently, the People's Daily commented that: "The active, safe and orderly development of nuclear power has become one of the important starting points for China to build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system." The "Comment" believes that nuclear energy is an important means for China to optimize energy structure and ensure energy supply, especially in the face of China's carbon neutrality commitment and climate change.
This paper first analyzes the use of nuclear energy all over the world, and then puts forward that although nuclear energy has the advantages of clean, stable power supply and low cost, there has always been a great controversy about the use of nuclear energy. On the one hand, nuclear power accidents make the public generally opposed to nuclear power. On the other hand, the harmless treatment of nuclear waste is also an urgent problem to be solved in the development of nuclear power. Then, the article lists the predictions of world-renowned institutions on energy use. Finally, the paper analyzes the necessity and feasibility of the development and utilization of nuclear power in China, and provides suggestions for the safe use of nuclear power.
