Recently, President Xi presided over a symposium on deepening the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta in Shanghai and delivered an important speech. This symposium coincides with an important moment when the integration of the Yangtze River Delta has risen to the national strategy for five years. It is not only a phased review and summary of the high-quality integration strategy of the Yangtze River Delta in the past five years, but also an analysis of the existing shortcomings and future directions that need to be improved. Through studying the spirits of this symposium, the article proposes the following reflections.
1. The symposium put forward requirements for promoting high-quality economic development, increasing efforts on scientific and technological research, constructing high-quality urban agglomeration, and improving high-quality developing dynamic in underdeveloped regions in the Yangtze River Delta region.
2. In the past five years, the integration of the Yangtze River Delta has not been synchronized in multiple fields. The symposium proposed that we should promote the cross-regional construction and sharing, orderly promote the cross-regional industrial transfer and rational allocation of production factors, and truly make the Yangtze River Delta a regional development community.
3. The difficulty in coordinating the integration of the Yangtze River Delta lies in the industries and the technological innovation field, while the integration of transportation, environmental protection, and other areas should move towards a higher level.
4. We should place the enhancement of security development capabilities in an important position, and the Yangtze River Delta should make contributions to the overall national security.
5. The Yangtze River Delta needs to be a pilot and demonstration zone for building a unified national market, and it should explore the way for the whole country in the problems that may be encountered in the reform and opening-up.
