Abstract: With the acceleration of domestic economic restructuring and the changes in the global economic environment, the real estate and export sectors are facing the dilemma of slowing power growth, forcing China to seek new industrial drivers as soon as possible. As an important part of the modern industrial system, the development level and quality of producer services have become a significant symbol to measure the economic competitiveness of a country or region. Through the comparison of manufacturing scale, technological knowledge intensity and added value between China and the United States, this paper holds that modern producer services are the invisible front that determines the main battlefield competitiveness of advanced manufacturing industry in China and the United States. Therefore, it is suggested that we should systematically understand the producer service industry, remove the institutional obstacles restricting the producer service industry, and shift the focus of the central-led industrial policy from supporting the expansion of production capacity at the back end of the industrial chain to supporting the investment of producer service industry at the front end, so as to promote the modern producer service industry to become a new power industry and activate the new momentum of domestic demand.
