Chen Chuanming

Chen Chuanming is the chief expert in enterprise development strategy research in the Yangtze IDEI at Nanjing University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and is a professor and doctoral supervisor of management science. He is the host of the excellent national course ''Management Science'' lecturer for the university video open course ''Management Thought'' chief expert on Marxist theoretical research and construction engineering ''Management'' of the Publicity Department of the CPC and the Ministry of Education of the PRC and is also the vice president of the Chinese Institute of Business Administration.

He joined the French Department of the Beijing Foreign Studies University in February 1977, and was selected by the Ministry of Education to study social-economic management at the University of Brittany, France, in October 1978. He was assigned to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences upon returning to China in June 1981, and transferred for a teaching position at Nanjing University in December 1982. During this period, he went off the job to study his doctorate at Nankai University from September 1990 to June 1993. 

He served as the director of the Department of Business Administration, deputy dean of the Business School, dean of the Management School, and secretary of the CPC Committee of the Business School. He has been engaged in the teaching and research of basic management theory and corporate strategic management for a significant amount of time. He has established the courses ''Principle of Management'', ''History of Management Thought'', ''Corporate Organizational Theory'', and ''Corporate Strategic Management'' at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral student levels. He has published Reflection on the Management with “Internal Controlled Causes'' and other papers in Management World, China Industrial Economics and other academic journals, and published Comparative Enterprise System, Management Science and other (more than 10 million volumes) monographs or textbooks at People's Publishing House and Higher Education Press, translated and published Microeconomic Analysis (People's Publishing House) and Management Control (The Commercial Press). He won second prize for national teaching achievements and the excellent paper award with Jiang Yiwei ''Enterprise Reform and Development Research Fund''. He has undertaken research for many national natural science fund projects, such as Path-Dependent Characteristics and Overcoming of Corporate Strategic Adjustment, and Entrepreneurs’ Social Capital and Business Performance''.
